Privacy Policy
How CaptureVana and BabySmile handle information on your device.
Last updated: July 31, 2026 · Applies to CaptureVana and BabySmile (the “Apps”), operated in connection with capturevana.com.
1. Overview
We build on-device camera apps whose purpose is to help you capture better moments — “Never miss the good shot.” We design the Apps so that core camera analysis and shutter decisions happen on your device. We do not sell your personal information.
2. Information we process
Camera and Photos
With your permission, the Apps access the device camera to show a live preview and perform on-device face/smile guidance, and may access the Photo Library (typically “add only”) so you can save captures you choose to keep. Camera frames used for live guidance are processed locally for that purpose; we do not upload your preview stream to our servers as part of normal capture.
Face data (on-device only)
When Camera access is granted, the Apps may derive transient face-related signals from live camera frames and from still frames at capture time, using on-device Apple frameworks (for example, Core Image face detection). Those signals can include approximate face location/bounds in the frame, whether a smile appears present, whether eyes appear open or closed, and related geometry used only for coaching overlays and shutter timing (for example face angle or relative feature positions within the same frame).
This is not Face ID, not a biometric identity template, and not used to identify who a person is. The Apps do not invent faces or smiles. Face-related signals are computed and used entirely on your device for App Functionality (live guidance, Auto-click timing, and choosing among burst frames). They are held only briefly in memory while a session is active and are discarded when no longer needed for that purpose. We do not upload face data, face templates, or the live preview analysis stream to our servers, and we do not share face data with third parties for advertising, analytics, or training.
If you capture and save a photo, that photo is written to your device Photo Library under your control. A saved photo may depict a face as an ordinary photograph; that is separate from the transient face-analysis signals described above, and we do not operate a separate cloud gallery for those saves in the current product.
Purchases (StoreKit)
Optional paid unlocks (for example, CaptureVana Plus or BabySmile Plus) are processed by Apple through StoreKit / the App Store. We receive purchase-status signals needed to unlock features (such as whether Plus is owned). We do not receive your full payment card details; Apple handles payment.
Device and diagnostics
The Apps may rely on standard OS capabilities (for example, local preferences, haptics, and App Store review prompts). If we enable optional analytics or crash reporting in the future, we will describe those tools here and, where required, obtain appropriate consent. Today’s product focus remains local capture.
Support email
If you contact support@capturevana.com, we receive the content of your message and associated email metadata so we can respond. We use that information only to provide support.
3. How we use information
- To operate camera preview, Auto-click / Manual capture, and saving to Photos
- To provide on-device face/smile/eye guidance and shutter timing (face data used only for this App Functionality)
- To remember your in-app settings on the device
- To unlock paid features you purchased
- To respond to support requests you send us
- To improve reliability and documentation based on aggregated, non-identifying feedback where applicable
4. On-device processing
Face detection, smile/eye guidance, and related scoring used to decide when to fire the shutter run on-device. Face data is not transmitted to us for those decisions. We do not use your camera frames to train public generative models that invent faces or smiles. Any future optional cloud or AI features would be disclosed and, where appropriate, opt-in — and would still honor the rule that we do not invent faces or smiles.
5. Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We do not share face data with any third parties. We may share limited non–face-data information with:
- Apple, as required for App Store distribution, purchases, and restore flows
- Service providers who help us operate email support or, if later enabled, hosting/analytics — under obligations to protect the data
- Legal authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and integrity
Photos you save remain in your library under your control. Sharing from the system share sheet is initiated by you and goes to destinations you choose.
6. Retention and deletion
Face data: Transient face-analysis signals are not retained by us and are not stored on our servers. They exist only briefly in on-device memory during preview/capture and are discarded when the frame is finished processing or the camera session ends. Uninstalling the Apps removes associated on-device preferences; there is no developer-side face-data store to delete.
Saved photos: Capture media you save is stored in your Photo Library according to your device settings — we do not operate a separate cloud gallery for the current product. You can delete those photos using the Photos app or revoke Photos access in iOS Settings.
Support email: Support emails are retained as long as needed to resolve your request and meet ordinary business/legal record needs, then deleted or archived appropriately.
7. Children’s privacy
The Apps may be used by parents and caregivers to photograph children, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from children for marketing profiles. Capture and face guidance happen on the user’s device; we do not upload children’s face data to our servers. If you believe we have received a child’s information through support email inappropriately, contact us and we will delete it promptly where required.
8. Your choices
- Revoke Camera or Photos access in iOS Settings at any time (the Apps may lose related features, including face guidance).
- Delete the Apps to remove on-device preferences associated with them.
- Manage Apple ID purchases and subscriptions (if any future subscription products exist) through Apple.
- Email us to request access, correction, or deletion of information you provided via support, subject to applicable law.
9. International users
If you use the Apps outside the country where we primarily operate, your information related to support may be processed in the United States or other locations where we or our providers operate. We take steps appropriate to the context of that processing. Face data used for capture decisions is processed on-device and is not transferred to us.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Material changes may also be noted in the Apps or on capturevana.com. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
